Skin Essentials - Irish Skincare Gem

As regular readers will know, Beautycouture.ie is all about championing Irish buisness, so when we tested our some products from Irish skincare company Skin Essentials, we were doubly delighted to find that they are amazingly brilliant.
A bit of a cult brand, Skin Essentials was set up by beauty guru Mariga Sheed a few years ago. After being shocked by finding out how much big brands pump into advertising and celeb endorsements, she decided to turn things on their head and create her own range, with minimal branding. Instead, she put the funding into the products and not the label. Her capsule range is based around powerful serums made with high potency active ingredients which are scientifically proven to impact skin function by providing all the nutrition your skin needs to function.
There’s a real old-school apothecary feel to the range; as if some magician has just put together this amazing potion just for you.
The two new products in the range, the Blemish Control Cream €70 and Overnight Repair Cream €80 are two little stunning gems that should be in every woman’s beauty box. The former is a wonder for breakouts and as we’ve harped on about many times, Acne is no longer a teenage problem. This fab potion contains a host of active ingredients such as retinyl esters which refine skin texture and reduce old acne scars. It’s also formulated to keep oil secretion under control, eradicate the ‘bad’ acne-forming bacteria, decrease inflammation and aid shedding of dead skin to prevent ‘sticking’ in the pores. In short it’s fantastic. Apply on at night for best results.
The second product, the Overnight Repair Cream is designed to address the visible signs of stress-related damage in the skin. The product itself is a deliciously lightweight, yet totally rich cream, full of powerful vitamin A, proven to significantly reduce lines, to gently restore smoothness and luminosity to the skin, while peptides, anti-oxidants and vitamins nourish it at a cellular level. It really leaves the skin smoother and more alive. It’s also great for helping to reduce in pigmentation patches and old acne scars.
The prices may seem a little high, but in your mind this stuff should inhabit the same space as Crème de la Mer as opposed to supermarket brands like Olay or RoC.
